Originally founded in 1986 as Cedar Rapids Crime Stoppers, Linn County Crime Stoppers is a partnership of concerned citizens, local law enforcement agencies and local media working together to resolve community problems through the apprehension of criminals and prevention of crime. It is an effective partnership because everyone shares an equal role in solving crime. It is a crime information collection system, which enables anyone with information about a crime, and who wishes to remain anonymous, to pass that information on to law enforcement through a neutral organization. Our board of citizen volunteers establishes policy, decides the amount and method of rewards, and raises funds. Board members are selected by the different jurisdictions within Linn County. Cities and towns represented: Alburnett, Bertram, Cedar Rapids, Center Point, Central City, Coggon, Covington, Ely, Fairfax, Hiawatha, Lisbon, Marion, Mount Vernon, Palo, Prairieburg, Robins, Springville, Troy Mills, Viola, Walford, Walker, Western, Whittier and Rural Linn County
